India’s official entry to Oscars 2022 is underway and the process for selecting in the Best International Feature Film category has begun. In Kolkata, jury members are screening a total of 14 films to select a final one. Among those shortlisted are Vidya Balan's Sherni and Vicky Kaushal's Sardar Udham, are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Vidya Balan as a forest officer tries to resolve man-animal conflicts in Sherni, and is directed by Amit Masurkar. The film also starred Sharat Saxena, Vijay Raaz, Mukul Chaddha, Ila Arun, Brijendra Kala and Neeraj Kabi in pivotal roles.
The other movie shortlisted, Vicky Kaushal’s Sardar Udham is the tale of Sardar Udham Singh, a courageous revolutionary, who was on a mission to avenge Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919, the lives of those who were brutally killed. The film is directed by Shoojit Sircar.
