SpaceX's crewed launch after weeks of delay lifted off from Nasa's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida at 9:03 pm on Thursday bound for the International Space Station.
Four astronauts were on board the Falcon 9 rocket, two younger crewmates including a veteran spacewalker chosen to join Nasa's forthcoming lunar missions. The astronauts were on board SpaceX's first flight of newest crew capsule Crew Dragon Endurance.
This was SpaceX's fourth crewed spaceflight and should arrive 22 hours later, dock 400 km above the Earth with the ISS station to begin a six-month stay aboard the orbiting laboratory.
European Space Agency’s Matthias Maurer, Nasa astronauts Raja Chari, Kayla Barron, and Tom Marshburn are on board SpaceX's Crew Dragon Endurance.
After a two-astronaut trial run in May 2020, the team designated as "Crew 3" are the third full-fledged "operational" crew SpaceX and Nasa have flown to the space station.
